In 2009 the event is changing its name and format. The details have not yet been released by the organisers. The Ruta Del Sol, organised by the Adventurists, took place in February 2008. It took the teams into the wilds of Latin America through thousands of miles of hardcore jungles and rainforest, the Andes, awful roads, complete absence of roads and tropical weather. Each team taking part has to provide their own VW Beetle and to raise a minimum amount for charity.
